Tunji Ige, the only Nigerian nominated for a Grammy Award in 2018
A Nigerian is among those nominated For Grammy 2018..
- His name is Tunji Ige and he was nominated as a producer alongside others like Syk Sense and Chris McClenney
In 2016, Nigerians celebrated the fact that Wizkid and Kah – Lo were nominated for Grammy awards and even though they did not win, their names will go down in history.
Recently, the list of nominations for 2018 Grammy awards were announced and surprisingly, another Nigerian was nominated.
His name is Tunji Ige and he was nominated as a producer for his work on Location, a record by American singer Khalid. It is nominated in the Best R&B category. He was nominated alongside other producers Syk Sense and Chris McClenney.
Born to Nigerian parents, Tunji has lived all his life in America.
He started making music at age 14 using a laptop and a sampler. Since then he has worked with other musicians as well as releasing his own material.
He also joined a music collective called Brain Bandits.
In 2014, he released his self-produced debut album titled The Love Project. Since its release, it has been played thousands of times on Soundcloud.
The project also attracted positive reviews from music magazines like Pitchfork, Noisey and Fader.
He also lists Fela Anikulapo Kuti as one of his musical influences.
Others nominated in the Best R&B Song category alongside PJ Morton, Childish Gambino, SZA, and Bruno Mars.
