instancederal High Court sitting in Lagos earlier today granted an injunction against a record label, G-Worldwide owned by Emperor Geezy which reportedly sought to stop its erstwhile first-rate song artiste, Oluwatobi Anidugbe popularly known in the music circle as Kiss Daniel from performing songs recorded while he was under the label and using his stage name, Kiss Daniel.

It made the media headlines recently that Emperor Geezy on behalf of his label allegedly got a controversial court injunction which handicapped Kiss Daniel from using his state name and also performing songs.
Meanwhile, a source close to Kiss Daniel told us that the injunction purportedly secured by the artiste’s former label “false and is a shady attempt at scoring cheap goals in the lingering crisis between the label and the artiste.”

A lawyer representing Kiss Daniel, in a statement made available to us, said “ the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has denied and refused G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd.’s application for injunction restraining our client from performing, recording or using the stage name “Kiss Daniel”. In other words, the court refused to grant any order of injunction to restrain or prevent Kiss Daniel from performing, recording or using the stage name “Kiss Daniel” as requested by G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd.

We also gathered that the application for injunction was surreptitiously and secretly filed without notice to our client but the court saw through the deceit and refused the application.” Recall that Kiss Daniel formally terminated his contract with G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd. via a letter dated 30th of October 2017.
Those working with Kiss Daniel said thr termination was done in compliance with the provisions of the Recording Contract between the parties and the said contract was drafted by G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd.
They added that Kiss Daniel had earlier filed a law suit against G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd at the Lagos State High Court on 31st of October 2017 and G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd. has already filed its appearance, defence and objection to the said suit.

They added that Kiss Daniel was already using the combination of the stage name “Kiss” long before he met G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd. The addition of “Daniel” (which is his middle name), he said, was at Kiss Daniel’s instance.
Efforts by this reporter to get the G-Worldwide team to react to the story proved abortive.
