The joy of Ekiti workers celebrating the up coming Christmas with funfair might have been dashed after all. Investigation by Naija hit play revealed that the money meant for the payment of the expected two months salary and a leave bonus for the state workers have been diverted by the governor for the onwards completion of the ongoing overhead bridge project in Ado Ekiti.

According to a source, the workers may only be paid a month salary before the Christmas time.

The source told us: "We may be celebrating this year’s Christmas with all the desired funfair. The is because I know that the governor has already given directive for the payment of just one month salary to workers and pensioners. The hope of another one being paid before Christmas is not sure here."

According to the source, Mr. Fayose at a meeting with the trio of the Finance Commissioner, Accountant General and the Commissioner for Works over the weekend, approved the payment of only a month salary, saying he needs money to complete the ongoing overhead bridge which is slated for commissioning early next year."

The Governor might have therefore backed down on its earlier promise to make the state workers happy by paying two months salary arrears and a leave bonus before Christmas.

Another investigation revealed that the governor is seriously sourcing for fund to prosecute next year's governorship election and his Presidential ambition.

"Mr. Governor is not keen at this time to pay more than a month salary before Christmas, he is saving for next year's governorship election, he is saving money to fund his Presidential ambition and at the same time working to complete the ongoing overhead bridge. There is no way we can go home happy this year. My Governor is as voracious as a lion now in terms of money. I can just say he has sacrificed the workers and pensioners with his ungodly self-serving projects and unholy ambition."

As it is today, the Governor who tagged himself people's Governor, is seriously indebted to the workers, pensioners and political appointees across the state despite receiving billions of naira from the federation account for payment of salaries and other entitlements.

Investigations revealed that the state civil servants are being owed 5 months salary. Local government staff -9 months. State judiciary staff -9 months.
Ekiti State University Staff- 5 months.
College of Education Staff, Ikere Ekiti - 8 months. Primary School Teachers - 9 months , Secondary School Teachers-5 months.

Others are College of Health technology staff, 8 months. Doctors, Nurses and Administrative Staff of Ekiti state Teaching Hospital -5 months.

Others include: Elected Councillors, Supervising Councillors and political appointees at local government level -9 months.

Political appointees Commissioners, SAs SSAs etc) at State Government level - 5 months.
