Boko Haram has reportedly killed five people in Niger Republic
- The victims were killed during an attack by the group on a crowded market in Diffa state
- According to local sources, several others were also wounded in the attack which took place on Friday, March 23, evening
Five people have been killed in a fresh Boko Haram attack in Niger Republic, Vanguard reports.
The victims were killed when some suspected Boko Haram terrorists opened fire on the crowd in a market in the southeast area of Diffa.
Sources in Toummour area of Diffa southeast area said, the terrorists came into the market on Friday, March 23, shot at the crowd and carted away foodstuff.

One of the residents said: “The BH (Boko Haram) came to the market place early Friday evening, they shot the crowd and took food."
Also, a local official who confirmed the attack said several others were wounded in the mayhem unleashed by the terrorist group.
The governor of Diffa, Mahamadou Laoualy Dan, who visited the scene of the attack condoled with relatives of the victims.
Mahamadou also encouraged the Niger Army to fish out the attackers and bring them to book.
“We ask the people to hold on… 2018 will be a decisive year in the war against Boko Haram," he said.
