25 die in Kogi as suspected herdsmen reportedly take on communities
A total of 25 residents in different communities including Oganienugwu and Ikende in Dekina local government area in Kogi state have been confirmed dead by the police following an attack on them by suspected herdsmen.
The Punch reports that Abejukolo in Omala local government area of the state was also affected.
The report said since the attacks started on Tuesday, March 13, and continued till Thursday, March 15, the villagers have been moving out of Obakume, Idirisu, and Oji Apata to escape possible attacks.

It was learnt however that detachment of police and soldiers have been drafted to the affected area with the report claiming that the victims were slaughtered after they were tied up; while those who attempted to escape alleged received machete cuts.
The report further said the villagers were woken by gunshots from the hoodlums dressed in army uniform while they slept.
It was also learnt that many houses were razed and some others demolished in the attacks.
The attacks were confirmed by the deputy commissioner of police in the state, Monday Bala.
Bala said the command was yet to ascertain the actual casualty figure.
