 Zainab's Danish husband was sentenced to death by hanging for killing her and their daughter.

Peter Nielsen, the Danish husband of Nigerian singer Zainab Nielsen, aka Alizee, has been sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of his wife and their three-year-old daughter in 2018.

Nielsen was accused of smothering his wife and daughter to death in their Banana Island home at 3.45 a.m. on April 5, 2018, and was later arrested and remanded in prison.

On June 13, 2018, he was arraigned in court and pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of murder contrary to Section 223 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, he was arraigned before a Lagos High Court on a two-count charge of murder brought against him by the Lagos State Government.

The presiding judge, Justice Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile, found the 54-year-old man guilty on both counts and sentenced him to death by hanging.

In other news, the Ogun State Police Command arrested Kingsley Essien, 36, for allegedly trafficking his wife to Mali for prostitution and selling her 2-year-old son for N600,000.

The suspect was apprehended after his wife, Bright Essien, reported to the Agbara divisional headquarters that in October 2021, her husband told her that he had secured a job for her in Bamako, Mali, and because he was her husband, she believed him and traveled to Mali, unaware that he had sold her to a human trafficking cartel.
